Picture & symbol licenses

The classroom pictures in this program are Teach with Krystal symbols, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). The full legal text of that license is on the Creative Commons website.

What CC BY-SA 4.0 means

Under this license, everyone is free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the symbols in any medium or format, including in your own classroom materials.
  • Adapt — remix, change, and build on the symbols for any purpose, including commercially.

Under these conditions:

  • Attribution — you must give credit to the creator, link to the license, and say if you made changes. The credit lines for each set are listed below.
  • ShareAlike — if you change or build on a symbol, you must license your version under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
  • No additional restrictions — you may not apply legal terms or technology that legally prevents others from doing anything the license permits.

Where it appears in the program
The complete Teach with Krystal AAC set of over 500 original pictures, in two styles (colorful and stick figure) under the same license (core and social words, people and feelings, food and drink, school and classroom, sensory and regulation, body, health and toileting, places, transport and home, and play, toys, animals and weather), drawn with a recurring multicultural cast of eight children and classroom adults. They are the pictures on the Core word board, the Teach with Krystal AAC board and the custom board starters, and they appear in the “AAC set” filter of the “Teach with Krystal” tab in every picture picker.

You may share and adapt these symbols for any purpose, including commercially, as long as you credit Teach with Krystal and license anything you create from them under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license. Symbols created by a teacher with the built-in icon editor belong to that teacher. They are not covered by the licenses above, and they are not part of this program's license.

This license covers the picture and symbol sets listed above only. The lesson content, printables, activities, and other materials created by Teach with Krystal are all rights reserved and may not be copied, resold, or redistributed without permission.
